Who we are
We are a diverse group of naturopathic doctors (and allies) from across the United States and Canada. Out of concern regarding the flood of misinformation and bad science being circulated about the COVID-19 pandemic, we have joined together to provide and promote quality information amongst the public and our profession.
Although we’ve been trained and work in individualized medicine, we are aware of the need for increased cooperation among all people to understand complex information in this time of uncertainty. Never before has humanity been so challenged to work together to solve global problems, but we must.
Our solutions must be based on the best data we have, with the understanding that knowledge is always evolving. They must work for everyone, not just those who have money or power, or who look like us/share our beliefs. We encourage openness, communication, shared humanity, sacrifice, hard work, and a sense of humor.
Our group has no political or commercial affiliation.
What we do
We share information that is vital to our patients and their communities. Part of the naturopathic doctor’s oath is to teach: “By precept, education and example, I will assist and encourage others to strengthen their health, reduce risks for disease, and preserve the health of our planet for ourselves and future generations.”
We are flooded with information and conflicting opinions in today’s world. The aim of this group is to evaluate, curate, and present our patients and communities with the best information available. This could be what the latest data says about shelter-in-place measures for COVID-19, evaluating popular claims about the efficacy/non-efficacy of masks or other preventive measures, important self-care during this time of anxiety and uncertainty, and communications skills required to address the divisions that make our societies less able to cope effectively with the challenges of these times.
Naturopathic Doctor’s Oath
I dedicate myself to the service of humanity as a practitioner of the art and science of naturopathic medicine.
By precept, education and example, I will assist and encourage others to strengthen their health, reduce risks for disease, and preserve the health of our planet for ourselves and future generations.
I will continually endeavour to improve my abilities.
I will conduct my life and practice of naturopathic medicine with integrity and freedom from prejudice.
I will keep confident what should not be divulged.
I will honour the principles of naturopathic medicine:
First, to do no harm.
To co-operate with the healing power of nature.
To address the fundamental causes of disease.
To heal the whole person through individualized treatment.
To teach the principles of healthy living and preventive medicine.
With my whole heart, before these witnesses, as a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine, I pledge to remain true to this oath.
